
DogCat Marketing? Why?
The simple answer: we like dogs, we like cats, and we like marketing.
The longer, conceptual answer has to do with the common assumption that dogs and cats don’t get along well together. But that’s a paradigm we seek to change. We take things that usually don’t work well together, and combine them to find success.
Startups and Marketing Companies
Startups have limited seed money that they are going to protect. Any additional cash will come from investors that are taking an equity share in the company —if the startup can get their idea in front of investors. They won’t bother spending money on marketing because “traditional marketing doesn’t work anymore,” or “marketing is way too expensive for the budget.”
Marketing companies are not investors. They work for cash, and get paid as quickly as possible. They don’t bother approaching startups because those companies don’t have the capital necessary to fund a marketing campaign.
Startups, especially in their early stages, are left scrambling to formulate some sort of marketing plan in their “free time,” a precious and rare commodity for the entrepreneur. That’s why you need creative financing.
DogCat Marketing isn’t a typical marketing company. In fact, we prefer to call ourselves Angel Marketers. We don’t ask young companies for tens of thousands of dollars to make them successful, because we know that would do the opposite.
Instead, we act as an investor does, using creative financing. In exchange for equity in the company, profit-sharing, or both, we become a marketing partner providing a full suite of professional services.
In other words, unlike almost any other marketing company, we are paid by the results we achieve – and if that isn’t creative financing, we don’t know what is.
Tradition and Innovation
Tradition and innovation need not be mutually exclusive: in fact, together they create a robust and adaptable force. They have the capability to take traditional methods and wield them in a completely new way. This combination has been the root of countless successes in business, technology, and science.
DogCat Marketing brings that formidable mixture to the table. We take the traditional marketing methods we have mastered and bend them to fit new molds.
We listen, build, develop, and measure using the innovative content delivery systems that technology affords us. It’s all based on the concept of being wherever the customer is, and engaging them with a voice that makes them listen. We create recognition and loyalty using the channels that are second-nature to customers, and adapt ourselves, our identities, and our content to become native to those channels.
Client and Agency
We’ve been in marketing for decades. We know the client/agency relationship inside and out, and we think it’s broken.
Traditional marketing agencies have no stake in your business. They create from the client’s inspiration, and deliver results; good or bad. Their fate has little to do with the fate of their client. An unsuccessful client has still paid their bill. Traditional marketers get paid even if their work and their plans don’t do the job.
Marketing with DogCat and our creative financing options means our fates are inextricably fused. Success is mutual, and so is failure.
